TEACHING:

Teach undergraduate and graduate courses in Management, Organization Behavior, workforce diversity and related subjects. The emphasis in each course is on students' applying the course material to their own personal experiences - and their being able to articulate and discuss these experiences, and their personal applications of these experiences,  in writing and in discussion with each other. Class activities and discussions are designed to encourage the development of interpersonal skills and emotional intelligence in the student - thus developing the whole person and furthering the Ignation pedagogical goal of cura personalis.

Primary teaching methodology is class discussion - in small groups and as a whole class. To facilitate discussion and skill development, I use experiential exercises, case discussions,  and films where appropriate. I also do a great deal of self disclosure and describing of ways in which the course material has applied in my life and work experience. Class assignments always involve frequent graded writing assignments and journal writing.

I have given presentations on my teaching approach at several national and regional conferences - including the Academy of Management, International Academy of Business Disciplines, Eastern Academy of management, Organization Behavior Teaching Conference, Mid Atlantic Organization Behavior Teaching Conference, and at two Colleagues in Jesuit Business Education Conferences. Conference sessions have been well attended and enthusiastically received.  I have also published articles and conference proceedings describing my teaching approach.

 SCHOLARLY ACTIVITIES:

I was the recipient of the 1999 and 2003 Kania School of Management Scholarly Achievement Award.

I was founder, Program Chair (2000) and first Chair (2001) of the Management, Spirituality and Religion Special Interest Group of the Academy of Management.
